Pickle-Lovers Fuming Over McDonald's April Fool's Day Prank

And so to McDonald's, which has 'launched' a McPickle Burger, featuring mounds of gherkins instead of meat patties, as its April Fool's prank.

But gherkin-fans are fuming that it was just a joke and are now calling on the fast-food chain to introduce the product for real.

Sharing a video of the (absolutely delicious looking) burger on its Australian social media account, McDonald's wrote: "Pickle lovers, it's the news you've all been waiting for.

"We're super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger.

"It's time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns.

"It's sure to be a treat for all your senses."

Pickle-lovers quickly flooded the post with messages saying they couldn't wait to tuck in to one. However, when Maccie's then added that the burger was available 'until yesterday', our pals Down Under clocked the date and realised the burger wasn't legit - and some of them were crushed.

One wrote: "Omfg if this is April Fools joke imma be mad."

Another said: "Cruel this isn't real." Cruel indeed, mate.

Others called on McDonald's to 'make it real'.

Meanwhile, those odd people who don't like gherkins responded to say they were chuffed it didn't exist.

With person writing: "Even though this is fake it's still disgusting." A second added: "What has this world become?"

While someone else said they'd like to 'throw it at a wall'. Well, there's no accounting for taste, is there?

But try not to be too put out, because I'm pretty sure you could make one yourself using a menu hack...
