Man who took Mounjaro weight loss drug for three months admits he made 'big mistake' after 'astounding' impact

His latest YouTube vlog revealed he'd come down with uncomfortable side effects

A man who lost over three stone in as many months via the weight loss medicine Mounjaro has admitted to making a 'big mistake'.

Gordon, who runs the YouTube channel 'FatOldClimber', has been paying for the injections - made available on the NHS last month for people with obesity - and documenting their effects in his 'Mounjaro Diaries' series. He even previously revealed their 'astounding' results in a video.

He's now come forward with something of a cautionary tale, though, admitting to his subscribers that he'd upped his dosage and suffered uncomfortable side effects ever since.

"My last video talked about an alternative method of increasing the dosage that is in your system without increasing the dosage of the pen you're using," began Gordon in an update posted on Tuesday (April 22).

"It addressed the issue that Mounjaro has a half-life of five days rather than Ozempic's seven days, and what that can sometimes mean [is] you can be on a dose that's good for appetite suppressant but by about day six or seven you can begin to feel the pangs of hunger again, and it was addressing that. Rather than increasing your dosage, increase the frequency of the jabs."

Gordon then revealed that 'for reasons I don't understand', he made the decision to increase the dosage, further explaining: "For the last five weeks I've been taking 10 milligrams every five days instead of 7.5mg every five days. I've had a lot more in my system than I need to have."

Apparently, his new side effects took four weeks to kick in, but they've been bad enough for him to want to 'ease back' to 7.5mg every five days.

"The main one is I've had a weird taste in my mouth. I can't say it's a bad taste, it's like I've been drinking a sweet drink," he said.

"I've found myself having to lick my lips, but it's there all the time and I've been a lot more thirstier than normal. I don't think I've been more constipated, I don't think I've had an upset stomach, I don't think I've felt nauseous, but these side effects are there and they weren't there before."

It wasn't too long ago that Gordon was waxing lyrical about Mounjaro (a.k.a Tirzepatide).

"I found within one day my focus on eating had gone. I wasn’t hungry when I would normally have been hungry, I wasn’t thinking about food all the time," the YouTuber shared.

He lost nine pounds in the first week and seven in the second.

"I've lost seven-and-a-half inches around my waist," he happily added.

Currently, the only proved safe and effective weight loss drugs in the UK by the NHS are orlistat, liraglutide, semaglutide, and tirzepatide.

The NHS also warns to 'never take an anti-obesity medicine if it has not been prescribed to you'.
