Luke Littler could break incredible darts record later this week just months into pro career

Luke Littler could break incredible darts record later this week just months into pro career

The teen is already on track to break it

Even if you don’t know much about the sport (or understand it whatsoever), it’s still likely you’ll know about this absolute lad storming through it.

Luke Littler quickly became a household name in late December when he got all the way to the final of the PDC World Darts Championship before losing to world number one Luke Humphries.

The ‘Nuke’ has since became a major player in the darting world at the age of only 17.

Since that unforgettable run at Alexandra Palace, he’s won the Bahrain Masters and a Players Championship tournament and made some impressive throws.

In this season alone, Littler has managed to hit a nine-darter an impressive three times.

For those who aren’t exactly versed in the sport, this is when a player gets the full 501 in just nine throws – the minimum amount it can possibly be done in.

It’s a pretty rare thing to happen but the lad’s clearly proved he’s more than capable of it and later this week, it could help him break an incredible record.

At the moment, the record for the most nine darters in one season is held by Gerwyn Price, who got four back in 2022 – including two on one night.

Littler’s got the chance to match this (or even break it) on Thursday (14 March) as the Premiere League Darts return.

So, if the Nuke managed to throw two nine-darters on the night, he’ll smash Price’s record just months into his professional career.

Although, this really would be a feat as it’s difficult to do it just once, let alone twice but the Welshman has proved its possible and Littler’s shown he’s got the nine-darter skill in him.

When the lad won in Belgium, he said: “I'm really happy to hit a nine-darter, I prefer 144 to 141 to finish a nine because when the first treble 20 goes in I'm confident of following it with another.

“I know the spotlight is on me because I've done so well but I just play my darts and get on with it. I just do what I do.”

Littler recently made his first live TV talk show appearance, going on The Jonathan Ross Show.

And ITV viewers were in stitches at his reaction to Millie Bobby Brown saying she likes him and has been rooting for him..

The darts pro even played a match against the actor, Raye and Rob Beckett.
