Elon Musk has spoken out after his name appeared in a newly released bunch of documents from the Epstein files.
There's quite a lot of people named in the files who the late convicted sex offender had some contact with, and given the nature of his crimes, investigators have been trying to work out exactly what such contact entailed.
Thousands of documents have been released to the public, some heavily redacted, which contain various correspondences and schedules involving Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019.
On Friday (26 September), Democrat politicians released a few new documents from the investigation into the convicted sex offender's affairs, among them were schedules from various years and a flight passenger manifest from 2000.

One of the schedules, from December 2014, says: "Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)"

This is Elon Musk's appearance in the Epstein files, and the tech boss has now posted online to tell his version of what happened.
Hitting out at a headline which said 'Elon Musk and Prince Andrew named in latest Epstein files release', Musk complained about his name being included and said: "Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED."
So his name does appear in the files, but according to Musk himself, the 6 December opportunity to visit the convicted sex offender's island was declined.

Musk had previously spoken about the Epstein files following his departure from the White House as he appeared to have a spat with US President Donald Trump.
The Tesla boss had posted on social media: "Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

Trump does indeed appear to be in the files through a birthday message he allegedly wrote to Epstein, though the US president has claimed that the note he is supposed to have written for Epstein is 'fake'.
With Musk having dropped the 'really big bomb' on 5 June, he shortly thereafter made a U-turn and appeared to try to cool things down from accusing Trump of not releasing the Epstein files because he was in them.

The victims of Epstein said earlier this month that they would be compiling their own 'client list' of people who were involved with the sex offender.
Lisa Phillips, one of Epstein's victims, said: "We know their names. We all know.
"Now, together as survivors, we will confidentially compile the names we all know who were regularly in the Epstein world."
