Woman's TikTok Tip For Cleaning Behind Radiators Goes Viral

Woman's TikTok Tip For Cleaning Behind Radiators Goes Viral

It's not the sexiest job, but apparently it needs doing

A woman has shared a genius home cleaning tip on TikTok that promises to get into the darkest and least frequently cleaned spots in the home. You can see her advice in the video below:

Now, this tip was shared a bit back, but it's still as relevant today as it ever has been.

In short, she uses washing powder and water to clean down the back of her radiator.

OK, so it's not the sexiest job in the house, and most of us didn't even know that we needed to clean behind there - right? - but it's a place where dirt and grime can gather, and if you want it done, here's how she does it.

Let's begin by saying that under no circumstances should you do this if you've got electric radiators. That's only going to end badly.

However, if you've got normal gas ones, this could be the trick you've been looking for. Pin your ears back.

Towel down first.

Sharing her process to TikTok, she showed how she begins by putting a towel down underneath the radiator, which is always useful if you're gonna throw a load of water around.

Then, she mixes boiling water and washing powder into a measuring jug, before pouring it really slowly through the radiator until it collects in a plastic box beneath.

If you didn't know how filthy it can get down there, you will learn by watching the video. What begins as a pure white mixture quickly turns to a brown and murky mess after heading through the radiator.

It's kinda gross, really.

However, if you stick with it, apparently it will not only get rid of that grimy cr*p that accumulates about the house without you noticing, but you'll get the added perk of a lovely fresh washed smell when you turn the radiators on once again.

Pour it down there.

That's nice, isn't it?

It bears repeating that this is only worthwhile if you have normal gas radiators, and not electrical ones. In fact, it's worth bearing in mind that you shouldn't pour any water into anything electrical.

It's just going to end in disaster.

Anyway, despite being a fairly mundane task, the video has racked up more than 650,000 likes on TikTok since it was shared, with loads and loads of folks admitting they can't wait to try it out for themselves.

The water is pretty grotty.

One person wrote: "This is such a great idea! Anyone else spending their weekend doing this now?"

Another wildly-enthusiastic observer offered: "I'm doing this tomorrow!"

A third said: "I can't thank you enough for this."

Feels a bit overboard, but maybe these people have unbelievably grotty radiators.
