This is the moment a man risked death as he tried to scare away a bear that had broken into his car:

The brave, or ridiculously stupid (you decide), man can be seen unlocking the door of the white vehicle before proceeding to scream, shout and flail their arms around.

Suddenly, the animal's head pops out looking somewhat confused - almost as if the car belongs to them.

The barefoot bloke doing the scaring is Joseph Deel and he posted the clip on to his TikTok account, @bear_innna_car, a week ago.

The terrifying incident took place in Gatlinburg, Tennessee - a tourist town with a bear theme. So, they should have kind of expected it.

To add insult to injury, the bear trashed Joseph's car, and due to the damage he had to abandon the vehicle on the interstate.

It was then that looters broke in and stole the car battery and catalytic converter among other things, and now he doubts that the vehicle is 'salvageable'.

Giving some more information, Joseph said: "Where we were staying at, it was a cabin on top of a mountain, we were surrounded by trees and nature.

"When you're surrounded by nature, who's going to break into your car? There weren't any people around me, I wasn't worried about my things getting stolen.

"Turns out that bears... bears will break into your car and they're actually quite good at it because they tested the closest neighbour's doors as well and they tested my friend's car doors. I was just the one that was lucky enough to win the TikTok lottery."

Erm... is there a problem?

Joseph went on to explain how the group discovered the bear: "So, it was about 7am and the previous night we had been partying until about 3 or 4am. At 7am somebody started honking their horn over and over.

"It wasn't a car alarm, it was just sporadic, random honking. And I'm just sitting in bed hungover. I'm just like 'Please, somebody out there smite that person honking their horn. Why are you doing it at 7am, dude? I'm in such pain right now.'

"After around seven or eight honks, my friend comes downstairs and he's in a really panicked state. His panicked state woke me up from my state that I was in.

"I immediately thought 'oh yeah, we're on a mountain in the middle of the woods. There's hardly anybody else around us.' We both go outside and as soon as we open the door, we can see my car moving like crazy."

Commenting on the original video, one person wrote: "Why does the bear look so confused like that was his car you kicked him out of?"

Another added: "Wow u really just gonna steal his car like that, this isn't GTA [Grand Theft Auto]."

Joseph his shared his Venmo and PayPal details on his TikTok account to help pay for the damage caused by both the bear and the looters, with the caption: "Help me out!"
