A blind schoolboy left shoppers amazed when he took to a shopping centre's karaoke machine and absolutely smashed it.

Carl Malone Montecido took to the mic, with his classmate looking on, before going on to sing his version of Sam Smith's 'Too Good At Goodbyes' - it was that good, even the singer praised the young boy.

The video of the impromptu performance was filmed on 5 February at a mall in Bacolod City, the Philippines.

It was then posted online, and made its way to the man himself. He re-shared the video, writing: "Who is this kid!!!!!? You are out of this universe whoever you are."

Onlooker Trixie Madison said everyone in the store who heard the teenager's voice was stopped in their tracks by his incredible version of the hit.

She said: "We stopped and listened to him with the other people in the mall. The song was almost finished when I remembered to take a video."

Carl is one of Philippines' representatives in the World Championship of Performing Arts set to take place in California in July.

He is best known for his stint in the first season of the 'Tawag ng Tanghalan' - an amateur singing competition currently aired as a segment of the noontime programme 'It's Showtime' on ABS-CBN.

He appeared on the show in 2016, managing to reach the finals and finish in fifth place.

Trixie Madison put the video of Montecido's singing on Facebook, and it went on to be shared so widely it made its way to Sam Smith. The video has been viewed more than 11 million times.

Twitter

People were more than impressed with the video, taking to Twitter to praise the youngster.

One person on social media replied to Sam's tweet saying: "People didn't clap after he sang because they thought it's the radio version they are hearing."

Gospel singer DeWayne Woods spotted the video and decided to take some technical tips from it, commenting: "I'm mad his reverb is this good in a store. I'm recording here from now own. No matter if they make announcements about eggs on aisle 3 while I'm singing. This is incredible!"

Someone else urged Sam to take the little guy under their wing, writing: "Get this kid in studio and get him some training. Help change his life for the better, you have the power."
