Aldi Relaunches Huge Tomahawk Steak Just In Time For BBQ Season

With both a bank holiday and a mini heatwave on our hands this weekend, we're all thinking of one thing: BBQ season. That's right, grab some lighter fuel and dust off those tongs, because it's officially in full swing - and Aldi knows, having re-launched its giant Tomahawk steak just in time.

The steak sold out in no time when it was released last year, so we're glad the supermarket has given us another chance to get in on the action.

One happy customer was even so chuffed with the steak before that they posted a review on the Aldi website, writing: "Just enjoyed the tomahawk steak (shared by 4 adults) and it was succulent and tasty - cooked as medium due to the fact that those present had different requirements and all agreed how good it was."

The 14-day matured, 100 percent British rib-eye steak weighs in at an average of 1.3kg, meaning there'll be plenty of meat on the bone to enjoy.

Better still, it costs just £12.99 ($17.50) - which is reportedly 52 percent cheaper than a similar one you can get at Waitrose.

A spokesperson for Aldi told the Metro: "We know that the meat is 100 percent British and we've spoken to the supplier who have let us know that their meat is grass fed, Farm Assured and Red Tractor Approved."

And because a BBQ isn't a BBQ unless it's an absolute feast, Aldi also has Wagyu beef burgers for £3.49 and Bad Dogs Chilli Cheese Sausages for £1.00 this week as part of its Super Six meat deals.

While you're there, you can also complete the BBQ package with some of Aldi's other summer gems, which this year include a hot tub and a pizza oven.

The hot tub will set you back £279.99 ($393), returning this year following its success last summer.

"Fitting up to four people this Intex Spa Pool will make the perfect addition to your back yard," the Aldi website explains.

"Ideal for when you're entertaining or looking to relax in the evening; just jump in the hot tub, lay back and let the world and your troubles melt away.

"Features of the Intex Spa Pool include a heater, circulation pump, integrated limescale protection system and a lockable insulating cover to aid security and keep heating costs to a minimum."

Meanwhile, the outdoor pizza oven costs just £49.99 ($70). It's slightly different to last year's version, as it can be plonked on to a regular barbecue as an attachment.

According to Aldi, the light, portable Barbecue Pizza Oven is a 'great way to cook pizzas outdoors' and can be used on gas and charcoal barbecues.

Not only can it manage pizzas up to 12" in size, but, better still, it'll also cook 'em in just 10 minutes.

Summer is shaping up to be a particularly good one this year, isn't it?
