Ex-McDonald’s Employee Reveals Truth About ‘Secret Menu Items’

While an official 'secret menu' doesn't exist, you can still request the off-menu items

A former McDonald's employee has revealed the truth about the so-called 'secret menu' items.

The idea of a secret menu has been floating around for years and contains such gems as a 'Land, Sea and Air Burger' which brings together beef patties, chicken and a Filet-o-Fish, but some people are put off asking in case they get laughed out of the restaurant.

Now, a fella named Jack who claims to have worked at the Golden Arches between 2015 and 2019, has taken to Quora to clear up a few things.

And it seems those that exercised caution before attempting to order a Mega Mac or Land, Sea and Air Burger were right to do, because he says 'there isn't a set secret menu at McDonald's'.

But before you get too downbeat, he did say you can pretty much ask for whatever you want and the staff will try their best to create it for you.

He wrote: "You have the ability to customise almost anything on the menus.

"Thanks to social media, I have customers ask for crazy items such as the 'Mega Mac' or the 'Land, Air and Sea Burger'.

"This isn't on our menu nor are we trained to create these orders. I usually ask the customer what the item consists of and what they would like to add. I usually remember these items for the next person that asks."

Adding a top tip, he wrote: "Mixing McCafe items with standard McDonald's items are the way to go to get the best secret menu items."

The post has since attracted more comments from other people who also say they worked at the fast food chain who backed up Jack's points.

One said: "There's no official secret menu, but most McDonald's employees know about the variations considered to be the secret menu.

"For example, if you order a Monster Mac, the employee will probably know what you mean."

And another said while it 'officially doesn't exist', you could touch lucky if you ask an employee who is familiar with the rumours or, failing that, you can explain to them what you want and they will 'sometimes make them as requested'.

Someone else said: "First of all... there is no secret menu at McDonald's. It's not a thing. So please don't come and ask for some made up sandwich expecting we know what you're talking about.

"But... we will customise just about anything. As long as it is reasonable."

So there you go, happy munching, guys!
