'Guinness Guru' Explains How To Pour The Perfect Pint From A Can

A TikToker who calls himself the 'Guinness Guru' has explained how you can pour the perfect pint of Guinness from a can. Watch here:

Yes, as we all know, today (17 March) is Saint Patrick's Day, which is traditionally celebrated by packing into a pub and drinking a ton of Guinness.

Sadly, this year that cannot be - because of you-know-what - so hopefully you've prepared by getting a stack of cans in.

Of course, it's never quite the same as a pint on draught, but Daragh Curran (aka The Guinness Guru) has explained how to get the best from your tinnies.

In a video posted on his TikTok channel, he says: "Ideally you've had the can in the fridge for around 24 hours, and standing up - I find if you put it down sideways it tends to kind of spill over when you open it.

"The glass - believe it or not, I put the glass in the freezer for 15/20 minutes.

"I'm gonna open the can and go straight in with it. So straight in, glass at a 45 degree angle... I'm gonna pour about 80 percent of it in."

After leaving it to settle for about a minute, Daragh adds the remaining black stuff.

He says: "You're not gonna lift up the glass, just hold the hand firm on it and plop that straight in, you should get a nice creamy head.

"All the way to the top, don't pull out, it won't overflow... Perfection."

Then, simply repeat this process until your heart is content.

If you want something to do while you quaff away, then Guinness is live-streaming a virtual celebration to mark St Patrick's Day.

'The Best of the Pub' will be headlined by Niall Horan and will also feature more pint pouring tips.

Guinness said: "This St Patrick's Day, Guinness is celebrating the pub on a global scale. While this year may look a little different, we are encouraging everyone from all corners of the world to give celebratory cheers to their own local pub, whether it's open or not.

"The Best of the Pub is a virtual event headlined by global music superstar Niall Horan.

"Also featuring is: renowned Irish chef, DJ and pub-owner Marcus O'Laoire showcasing the craft behind the ultimate Guinness cheese toastie, Guinness Experts detailing exactly how to 'perfect your pour' and the amazing Felispeaks with an exclusive spoken word performance."
