Unemployed Mum Accidentally Tipped Kebab Shop £5,650 When She Entered PIN Twice

Olesya Shemyakova bought drinks and chocolate cake from the kebab shop and ended up paying £5,650 after entering her PIN number twice.

Is there anyone else who loves to give a nice tip, especially on holiday (only on holiday for some). We don't think there's much else that makes people feel more generous, kind and giving than a cheeky tip.

So imagine how this woman felt when she handed over nearly £6,000 ($8,171) to a kebab shop where she enjoyed some drinks and chocolate cake.

This leaves us asking so many questions but most importantly, why in any world was she in a kebab shop for dessert and drinks?

Olesya Shemyakova, from Russia, tipped New Point kebab shop in Dietikon, Zurich, a whopping £5,650 ($7,695) and it was a complete accident.

Bloody hell, some accident.

37-year-old Olesya ordered some drinks and a piece of chocolate cake for her son, a colleague and herself when she was visiting the town in Switzerland.

When she was presented with the bill of 23.70 CHF (£17.40/$23.70), Olesya asked if she could pay by card.

She said: "I entered my PIN code but it did not work. Then I entered it a second time and then it functioned. I assumed that I paid 23.70 CHF, that was also stated on my receipt."

But two weeks later unlucky Olesya got a nasty surprise when she saw that 7,709 CHF (£5,685/$7742) had been taken from her account.

She didn't only pay the 23.70 CHF for the bill but she also unwittingly tipped the kebab shop 7,686 CHF (£5,668/$7,719). That is not what you want to be paying for some cake and pesky drinks - that we're sure were lovely.

When Olesya realised that it was the same amount as the personal identification number of her credit card, she realised exactly what had gone wrong.

So, we all have her PIN number now as well as the knowledge that she's got cash in the bank.

As the Russian national did not speak any German, she did not know that she had first been asked to enter her PIN code.

She then needed to enter the amount she wanted to pay, which leaves customers the chance to include a tip.

Instead of entering 23.70 CHF or a slightly higher amount, she mistakenly entered her PIN code again.

Since the mistake unemployed Olesya has been trying to get her money back, but did not get much help from the kebab shop or her credit card company, according to local reports.

Now, kebab shop boss, Cengiz Gokduman, has said that Olesya will get her money back soon.

Gokduman said: "I can promise that the customer will get her money back."

He added: "Actually the payment should not be possible after a certain amount."

Olesya told local media she still needs to wait for the Turkish kebab shop owner to fulfil his promise as she has not heard back so far from Gokduman.

She said: "I hope they will not be empty promises again."

Well, we hope it was bloody good cake at the very least. We also hope she's got herself a new PIN number.
