A new naturally pink chocolate covered KitKat is set to hit shelves in the UK later this month, see, the world isn't so bad after all, is it?
The fourth type of chocolate - alongside milk, dark and white - called ruby chocolate is made from special ruby cocoa beans and has an 'intense berry-fruitiness without the addition of any flavour or colour', apparently. Sounds delicious, I'll take ten.
The UK is the first place in Europe to stock the treat - which has been on sale in Japan and Korea since the beginning of the year, under the wonderful name, Chocolatory Sublime Ruby KitKats and formed part of the KitKat 'Made in Japan' range. There are over 350 KitKat 'Made in Japan' products, including these ruby chocolate ones, green tea, rum and raisin and even purple sweet potato.
Alex Gonnella, marketing director for Nestlé's UK confectionary business, said: "We know that a new type of KitKat is a really big deal and we are very excited to be able to offer a different type of chocolate for KitKat fans to try.
"After the extremely successful launch of KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Ruby in Japan and South Korea, this is the first time the Ruby chocolate will be available in an iconic four finger format and we are sure that the Ruby chocolate KitKat will be a great hit in the UK.
"Ruby chocolate is a big innovation in confectionery and we are very proud that KitKat is the first major brand in the UK to feature this exciting new chocolate."
The newly created 'fourth kind of chocolate' was devised by chocolatier Barry Callebaut, which spent over 10 years developing the stuff.
Pablo Perversi from Barry Callebaut added: "I am very pleased to see the result of our partnership with Nestlé - the iconic four-finger KitKat made with our ruby chocolate.
"Consumers across the world will be intrigued by the unique taste of this crispy delight!"
The new treat will be on sale exclusively at Tesco from 16 April.
