A man has set the Guinness World Record for fastest time drinking a Capri Sun managing to chug one down in 16.65 seconds.

Declan Evans, 20, was bored in lockdown last year, so decided to see if he could set a new world record.

He had a look through thousands of Guinness World Records that had been set a benchmark, but not yet attempted.

Among them was the challenge to down a Capri Sun, which was around 18 seconds.

Reckoning that he could do better, Declan tried a few attempts and tried to nail down his technique as well as abiding by the rules set out.

And on 27 August last year, he officially set the record with his time of 16.65.

He submitted his attempt and then had two wait around 12 weeks to get a response from Guinness World Records.

Declan, a forensic science student at De Montfort University in Leicester, told The Lincolnite: "It is a stupid record to hold, but that is the fun of the Guinness World Records.

"I think it will definitely get beaten. I wouldn't say it was that fast. It is a silly record anyone can try, but I am proud to have it and it is still a world record.

"Once I achieved it, it was quite rewarding and I want to try more records in the future."

After being awarded the official world record, Declan's got a bit of a taste for it now and plans to set some more.

Once coronavirus restrictions are lifted in the summer, he hopes to try to get the quickest times to run a mile carrying someone on a stretcher, and also to swim the River Humber.

He also fancies a go at getting some gaming records under his belt.

Best of luck to you, mate.

Last month, a bloke from Canada set the much-less fun Guinness World Record of fastest time to eat three Carolina Reaper chilli, which he did in under 10 seconds.

Mike Jack set the new world record by chowing down on the three chillies in just 9.72 seconds. Rather you than me, Mike.

Carolina Reaper chillies are officially the hottest in the world, and can be up to 440 times hotter than a typical jalapeno, according to Guinness World Records.

Mike, a chilli eater and world record holder, ate three of the blighters to set a new record - which hasn't been broken in six years.
