A dog that was seen peeping over a fence has been referred to as a 'demon dog' and compared to Pennywise the Clown from the movie It.

The weird creature was seen staring over the fence in someone's garden and has now gone viral because - well - it looks absolutely terrifying.

The animal has even drawn comparisons to Michael Jackson in 'Thriller'.

Twitter

It's something in the eyes, it looks like it is calmly plotting what it is going to do to you.

Sharing the photo, Twitter user @thegallowboob wrote: "Never been more scared of a dog."

Since he shared that picture, it has been liked nearly 200,000 times and retweeted more than 22,000 times.

Many have just been having a good laugh with it, but as well as the comparisons with Pennywise and MJ, others have said that the dog looks like Heath Ledger when he played the Joker, as well as many dogs standing on top of each other, and Samuel L Jackson in Blake Snake Moan.

One Twitter observer commented: "They better cast him in that Cujo remake."

For those who might not be aware, Cujo is a film based on a Stephen King novel in which a rabid dog repeatedly attacks a family.

Another person said that the dog appears to be 'straight outta [another Stephen King adaptation] Pet Sematary'.

Yet another person said the dog was giving off 'some real Sweeney Todd vibes' and added: "I have a feeling that there are a lot of bones lying around that back yard".

Someone else joked: "That dog is plotting how to make your death look like a tragedy while horrifying the entire neighbourhood just to send a message.

"It doesn't want petted, just a whole movie worth of revenge."
