Driver Performs '150-Point Turn' To Leave Parking Space

This is the moment a hapless driver performed an '150 point turn' - despite only having to reverse out of a parking space:

The person behind the wheel has been compared to Austin Powers during the three-point turn manoeuvre scene.

The lucky witness was a guy called Mark Barnes, who was getting a milkshake with his son at Five Mile Shopping Centre in Queenstown, New Zealand, when he spotted the woman failing to move her people carrier out of the bay.

The footage shows the grey vehicle almost scraping against the trolley bay next to it as the driver tried but failed to reverse straight out.

Mark, 50, watched on as instead of just straightening her vehicle, the driver then performed a never-ending series of mini turns across two parking spaces.

I mean, he could have gone and offered some assistance, but where would be the fun in that?

Incredibly after almost four minutes of careful manoeuvring, the grey car managed to drive off having not hit the trolley bay or a black 4x4 just two spaces over.

It might have been painful to watch, but she got there in the end, and, let's face it - it's pretty impressive really.

Mark, who works in security, said: "I was thinking 'I can't believe what I'm watching'. It reminded me of the Austin Powers scene where he gets stuck turning in the hallway.

"We were getting a shake and I noticed a lady trying to get out of a parking space. She had already made five attempts to get out.

"I started filming cause I couldn't believe what she was doing. When she was trying to reverse out she kept getting closer and closer to the shopping cart barrier.

"There was one free space next to her and then the black truck. Overall she did a great job getting out the way she did."

Mark's video has been viewed more than 228,000 times, with commenters torn between calling the driver a 'moron' and being impressed she managed to pull off the manoeuvre.

One person said: "Actually, besides being totally illogical, it was quite an impressive effort."

Another wrote: "Deserves two medals, one for being a moron, and the other for being a genius actually pulling it off."

A third commented: "I've never seen so much and so little skill at the same time."

Another quipped: "I've been reversing out of car parks wrong all this time. I need to do a 150 point turn."
