TiKTok has turned one a groom in Australia, after he thought it'd be a good idea to get his pal to propose at his own wedding. That's definitely the sort of thing you'd call a 'faux pas'. Watch the clip below:
You know the protocol for weddings: it's the bride's special day so don't do anything to detract attention from them. Safe to say, this stunt might have broken that unspoken rule.
Thankfully, recently married Australian couple Laiven and Catrin Bene don't really care too much about such conventions - in fact it was groom Laiven's idea for his best mate to propose to his partner during the big occasion.
However, while the couple were more than happy to share their wedding moment with their friends, the internet hasn't been so kind after a video went viral, showing the moment the engagement took place.
The proposal took place last November, when the Benes tied the knot at a fancy looking ceremony in Sydney, Australia with the groom later sharing the video of his pal doing the deed on TikTok.
In the video, the bride is about to do the bouquet toss but instead turns around and hands it to one of her female guests.
As the woman turns around, she's met by her boyfriend - who's down on one knee with a ring, ready to pop the question. Amidst much cheering, she of course accepts.
The pair will now get married in two months' time.
So far, so lovely. But not according to TikTok users.
"You wait your whole life for the perfect wedding day just for someone else to make it about them, I'm a good friend but I would never allow this," one woman wrote.
Another added: "If anyone does this on my wedding I'm throwing hands."
For his part, Mr Bene told Daily Mail Australia that he had planned the proposal because he 'wanted to do something special and different' during their wedding reception.
He added that the moment was 'magical', and that he and his new wife were 'more than happy to give two minutes out of our night to our best mates'.
Thankfully for him, there was also some support for him online, with one person saying: "This is so beautiful and so selfless."
Another commented that they would do the same thing for their best friend 'in a heartbeat'.
Let's face it, if this what people consider 'ruining' a wedding then they clearly haven't seen what an actual ruined wedding could look like.
In November last year, Vancouver Canucks ice hockey player Adam Gaudette decided to perform a lovely sensual dance for his wife Micaela at their wedding in Canada, only to end up getting it badly wrong when he straddled her and booted her right into the mush.
The video was posted online and went viral, although miraculously poor Micaela seemed to keep him on as her husband regardless.
