UK's '7 Circle' Magic Roundabout Is Freaking Americans Out

Swindon's Magic Roundabout is made up of seven circles

American motorists have been left feeling pretty freaked out after seeing this mind-bending seven circle roundabout.

Swindon's 'magic roundabout' has been in operation since the 1970s, but our friends across the pond - who don't really go in for roundabouts - are reeling after a photo was shared on Reddit.

The image - captured by drone photographer Simon Folkard - was posted in the r/CasualUK subreddit, where one user wrote: "Noticed a lot of Americans on here recently, so thought I'd drop this to spook them."

And, fair play, it seemed to have the desired effect. I mean, I won't lie - I'm British and that's scaring me.

Commenting on the post one person said: "As an American, I am indeed frightened by this."

While another simply said: "American here - I think the f**k not."

Someone else wrote: "You know what, you're right. I'm having a goddamn panic attack imagining driving through this thing."

But others saw it as a bit of a challenge, with one person writing: "I'm from New England.. bring it on, we got traffic circles, rotaries and roundabouts all over the place. This one looks fun!"

I'm not sure you know what that word means, mate.

For those interested, the roundabouts traffic flow around the inner circle is anticlockwise, while traffic flows in the usual clockwise manner around the five mini-roundabouts on the outer loop.

Personally, I would just go for whichever route involved not having to tackle this.

Earlier this year, footage of US citizens attempting to take on a roundabout in Kentucky went viral.

Authorities in Rowan County put a roundabout on a junction, but it was met with a fair bit of confusion by locals who were filmed taking the wrong exits, or sometimes even heading completely the wrong way around the roundabout. You can see the clip here:

Aerial footage, which was shot by Walker Construction, showed the chaos caused by the newly opened roundabout, which has been slammed by many locals as unnecessary anyway, as motorists were happy enough with the old system.

A local called Jason Whisman told news outlet WYKT: "It's going to throw them for a loop. A complete 360. No doubt about it."

Tell you what, guys, I'd cross Swindon off your holiday list if I were you.
