Man Holds Guinness World Record For Stretchiest Skin

Garry Turner is able to stretch his belly skin to a length of 15.8cm - that's basically half the length of a generic ruler

Meet Garry Turner, folks. He's the fella with the stretchiest skin in the whole entire world. Here he is in action:

Unbelievably, Garry is able to stretch his skin on his stomach to a distended length of 15.8 cm (6.25 in) due to a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

The condition is a disorder of the connective tissues affecting the skin, ligaments and internal organs.

With this condition, the collagen that strengthens the skin and determines its elasticity becomes defective, resulting in, among other things, a loosening of the skin, and 'hypermobility' of the joints.

In more serious cases, it can cause the fatal collapse or rupturing of blood vessels.

Speaking about his skin and condition back in 2012, Garry said: "I have always known that my skin was different - as a small child my uncles used to have fun showing their friends."

When he was asked whether there are other parts of his skin that stretch, he went on to say: "Anywhere that has plenty of skin is best - tummy, neck, arms, etc. Areas not so stretchy are hands and feet.

"Stretching doesn't hurt at all. However, other aspects of the syndrome are very painful, e.g. joints."

Moving on from stretchy skin to the world's loudest burper...

Let us introduce you to Paul Hunn who managed to reach an incredible 109.9 dB with a burp when he was at Butlins in Bognor Regis, UK, back in 2009.

To put that into a bit of perspective for you, that's almost as loud as a pneumatic drill (around 120 dB).

In the past, Paul has put his success down to a good curry and fizzy drinks, and over the past 20 years has appeared on TV shows and stages to demonstrate his unique talent.

Speaking about his ability, Paul said he was known for it at school and just kept going with it after leaving. He adds that preparation is key.

He told Guinness World Records: "My preparations before doing a very loud burp would be maybe the night before I would have a spicy curry or something like that to get the gasses going in my stomach.

"On the day of the attempt or demonstration, I will make sure that I don't eat, so that my stomach is nice and empty. That way I can get more air in beforehand.

"As I'm about to burp, I take a fizzy drink, I breathe in some more air, I lean forward, and as I feel the air rising, I just let rip, so to speak."
