Woman Who Complained That 'Pink Turkey' Ruined Christmas Was Told She Bought Gammon

The woman, called Zoe, contacted NL Butchers to rant about her turkey being pink, only to find out she ordered a hamper that had gammon in

A woman was left feeling pretty embarrassed this Christmas after finding out the 'pink turkey' she'd purchased and complained about to the butcher about was actually a joint of gammon.

The woman, identified only as Zoe, got in contact with NL Woodcock Butchers in Oldham, Greater Manchester, to have a rant about what she'd received from them.

In her initial message to the company, Zoe wrote: "So we cooked the big 12lb Turkey yesterday and when we carved it it was still very pink inside so we had to put it back in the oven.

"One hour later we got it out again but still pink so [sic] my husband carved it all and put it [sic] back in because we thought it would have to cook quicker like this.

"Eventually we gave up and had Xmas dinner 2 hours late with no meat.

"When I went in the kitchen later I had a nibble on the outside of the now very dried out meat and realised it wasn't a Turkey it was gammon.

"Very disappointed I have to say." Understandable... had she got a turkey of course.

In response, the butchers wrote: "Hi Zoe we are sorry about that but looking at your previous messages you ordered the hamper 6 which was the full gammon joint and didn't come with a turkey."

Ooops.

Zoe, clearly realising her mistake, told them: "Oh my god I'm such a t**t," before adding: "Please accept my apologies."

She went on to explain how it couldn't have made the day worse because everyone living in her house had Covid-19.

Zoe went on to enquire whether there were any turkeys left, so maybe she's thinking about giving Christmas dinner another go.

N L Woodcock Butchers adorably responded: "We will drop you a boneless turkey breast off on Wednesday. The price is nothing as it's [sic] the best laugh I've had this year.

"Hope all the family get well soon. Thanks for your custom."

In the comments, one person wrote: "I'd love to laugh at this and think it was ridiculous but in all honesty I think it's the kind thing I'd do too."

Another added: "Made me laugh out loud this morning!

Well done to Neil for being so generous and well done to Zoe for being able to laugh at herself!"

Well, we hope everyone in Zoe's house enjoys their turkey the second time around!
