Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role as Deadpool in the third instalment of the movie, which is the first in the Deadpool franchise to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will also be the first Deadpool movie to be R-rated.
Deadpool first came to our screens back in 2016, with the second movie, Once Upon A Deadpool, following in 2018. In December 2019, work began on the third instalment, but a lot of things were put on hold in the entertainment industry during 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Collider:
"It's exciting for it to have begun... A very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."
Bob's Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin have been drafted in to write the threequel, after Reynolds and the Marvel bosses decided their pitch was the "perfect fit" for Deadpool's entrance into the MCU.
Reynolds has been involved in the writing process for the third movie and in May, it was reported that he was pushing for his character to be openly bisexual in the new Marvel movie. Deadpool has traditionally been a heterosexual character.
Deadpool 3 release date
As filming is still underway, no release date has been set yet for the upcoming movie.
Back in January, Feige told Collider:
"It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We've got a number of things we've already announced that we now have to make."
So with filming not starting until 2022, we would expect Deadpool 3 to be released in early 2023.

No official trailer has been released yet, but fans went crazy for a teaser video posted by Ryan Reynolds, which features him as Deadpool and Korg from Guardians of the Galaxy reacting to a trailer for the film Free Kid.
Fans have taken this as a clue about the forthcoming film, which could very well feature Korg.
Deadpool 3 cast - who's in it?
Other than Ryan Reynolds, who stars as Wade Wilson and his superhero alter-ego Deadpool, we've not heard about any confirmed cast members yet.
It's possible we could see the return of some of the new characters from Deadpool 2, like Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). And if the teaser video is anything to go by, we could see Korg (Taika Waititi) featuring in the new Marvel film.
And if there's one thing to watch if you want clues about the future of MCU characters, it's the post-credit sequences. If the end of Deadpool 2 is anything to go by, we could be seeing Vanessa, Deadpool's girlfriend, who cheated death in the post-credit sequence, return.
