Chet Hanks, the son of Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, has shared a bizarre video in which he tells singer Adele to 'hit my line' ASAP, saying he needs to 'talk to her about something'.

Hanks filmed himself dancing and singing along to Adele's 2011 hit 'Set Fire to the Rain', taken from her second studio album 21, having blasted it out on his car speakers.

"@theshaderoom PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ADELE HIT MY LINE ASAP !!!!!!!!!!!!" he captioned the post.

"I NEED TO TALK TO HER ABOUT SOMETHING."

After 20 seconds or so of fevered dance movements, Hanks turned the volume down and turned to the camera to address the singer behind the song.

"Adele, Adele, Adele!" he says in a faux Caribbean accent - something he's done before, and come under fire for.

"I see the picture one day, it sweep me. I no tell no lie my girl, hairstyle fit ya. Big up yourself."

He ended the video by turning the volume of the song back up and pointing to his phone, gesturing for her to call him.

His nod to Adele's 'fit' hairstyle is, of course, a reference to her recent Instagram photo, which she posted to mark what would have been Notting Hill Carnival this weekend.

In the photo, the star is wearing a bikini top bearing the Jamaican flag, while her hair has been tied into bantu knots.

"Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London," she wrote in the caption.

After the post went live on Sunday evening, it began to divide social media users - with some commenting to accuse Adele of 'cultural appropriation', while others argued it was simply 'cultural appreciation'.

"No sis.... we love you but don't appropriate people's culture," one person wrote.

On the other hand, someone else said: "For all the haters: this look was probably done by a black woman. She also celebrated with black people. She is celebrating the culture, not making fun of it."

Agreeing, another person added: "Adele is clearly celebrating a culture that she admires, and is in no way appropriating that culture. It's so trendy and clout chasing for most of you to call it cultural appropriation.

"There are more pressing issues that you can be mad at than this."

LADbible has reached out to Adele's representatives for comment.
