Ricky Gervais will cement his place in Hollywood's history books by getting a star on the infamous Walk of Fame.

The hilarious comedian has received the massive honour for his contribution to the entertainment industry over the past two decades.

Not only has his Netflix series After Life been the most watched British sitcom in the world for two years in a row, but the 60-year-old has also managed to earn 25 Emmy Awards, 11 Baftas and nine Golden Globes and still holds the record for the fastest selling stand-up of all time.

But he's not the only one to get the honour of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2022 honours list includes the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Macaulay Culkin, Avril Lavigne, Ewan McGregor, Carrie Fisher and DJ Khaled.

There were hundreds of nominations given to the Hollywood Walk of Fame board and that was whittled down to just 38 honourees for 2022.

Speaking of Afterlife, Ricky and the team have started filming the show's final season. Back in April, he posted a picture of himself holding a clapperboard, with the caption: "Action!"

Fans of the series are clearly - and very understandably - excited by the news.

Commenting on the post, one person said: "So pleased. Never has loss and grief been portrayed with such honesty, thank you."

Echoing these sentiments, another added: "This makes me incredibly happy. Not just the news that AL3 is filming, but your maniacal grin. There's something equally joyful and disturbing about it."

The comedian is hoping to have the series ready to air by the end of the year.

Speaking in an interview on Lorraine back in February, he said: "Everything's going well, we film in April and May and then it takes a few months to edit and then it takes a couple of months to put into a 160 languages.

"So, I'm hoping [it will air] by the end of the year."

After Life follows Tony (played by Gervais), a man who is struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife, while also attempting to improve his relationships with the other people in his life.

The dark comedy struck a chord with people, however so did the other themes of mental health and what to do when someone close to you dies too soon.

The show has been praised for tackling some big and often difficult ideas while also remaining absolutely hilarious.
