By the end of next week Stranger Things will have come to a close for good, with Netflix set to release the finale in the early hours of 1 January for UK viewers.
It's shaping up to be a huge event, with Ross Duffer confirming on his Instagram that the final episode of Stranger Things will be a whopping two hours and eight minutes long.
Between debating whether Steve will die in the finale and trying to figure out whether the trailers have any hints that tell us what how Will and Vecna will be linked together, fans have become ravenous in their attempts to find out what is going to happen in the last few episodes.
Short of simply waiting to watch it when it comes out though, the best indicator we can find before the episodes are out is what the cast themselves have said about the two-plus-hour finale of TV.
Millie Bobby Brown
Bobby Brown made headlines earlier this year when asked if she was happy with her character’s ending, pulling an awkward face reminiscent of Emilia Clarke when she was asked about the ending to Game of Thrones.
Since then the actor has thankfully said a little bit more about the ending, saying that it was ‘beautifully written’ in the same interview.
Advert
Speaking at the premiere, she told Associated Press: “I truly trust the Duffer Brothers with everything in me and I have for 10 years. I’m not going to doubt them on their last go, but let me tell you, they land the plane and everybody is going to lose their damn minds.”
Noah Schnapp

Noah Schnapp has previously teased the final episode of the show, with many fans online keenly anticipating a resolution surrounding Will’s clear feelings for Mike.
Schnapp however has said the Duffer Brothers ‘close their relationship really well’, adding: “Look, it’s like a real, authentic representation of a queer kid in the ’80s.
“I’ve dealt with that myself, being in love with my best friend, and maybe they don’t love you back, or maybe they feel differently. I’m not gonna spoil anything, but I think the Duffers close it really well.”
Despite this, he claims the cast haven’t seen the full cut of what they filmed and so will be watching it ‘with the rest of the world’.
David Harbour
David Harbour’s final season has been mired in controversy over allegations of bullying leaked involving co-star Millie Bobby Brown.
Harbour has still been involved in the press run however, speaking specifically about an emotional table read of the final episode.
He said: “The end of this episode, when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying.
“Then, about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people.”
He went on to add that the script ‘pays off in big ways because [the characters have] lived with you for the past eight years'.
Gaten Matarazzo

Whilst everyone else has been stressing about Dustin and Steve dying in the final episode, Matarazzo has instead been issuing some fairly poignant quotes about life after Stranger Things when asked about the final episode.
Speaking to NME, he said: “It became a joke between all of us that we’ve been saying goodbye for longer than we’ve actually been doing the show. But even though you spend so much time worrying about [the show finishing], but it still hits you like a truck.”
Regarding the finale itself, he called it one of the ‘bigger episodes of TV that's been planned in a very long time’, and added: “The way that the shows have been going, the seasons have been progressing, the way we go about this last one just seems like the ultimate plan that Matt and Ross [Duffer] have always had, and it feels like a really satisfying way to kind of put the button on it and seal it once and for all.”
