People are feeling hugely nostalgic with the release of a creepy new instalment of Salad Fingers, saying it looks just like a 'classic 2000s episode'.

Those of you who spent any time on YouTube during the 00s will no doubt remember Salad Fingers, an animated web series created by David Firth that became something of a cult favourite.

The cartoon followed a character called 'Salad Fingers', a green figure with large, bulging eyes and thin, long digits - who was first introduced when the series debuted in 2004 with an episode called 'Spoons', in which he revealed his love for touching rusty items like spoons.

Now Firth has treated fans to a 'throwback style' short episode, having shared the three-minute video on YouTube.

"Salad Fingers runs his own market stall but has some issues with the locals," the mini-episode's synopsis reads.

In the description, Firth added that the video isn't a 12th episode, but was simply a one-off for fans.

Viewers seemed to enjoy the unexpected surprise, saying it gave them a huge hit of nostalgia.

One person commented: "This felt like a classic 2000s episode, bringing the series back to its roots, stellar work as usual David!!"

Someone else said: "I love how this looks just like it did in 2007. I wouldn't think this was from 2021 if I didn't know better."

A third wrote: "This really felt like a 2004 episode of salad fingers, definitely not a bad thing! 3 minutes long, no overarching story, choppier animation. I really enjoyed this one!"

A fourth added: "I really like the shift to the old style. Not that the new one is bad or anything, it's just a pleasant nostalgic surprise."

After the first episode of Salad Fingers dropped, the series went on to be a firm hit with young adults across the country, as people tuned in to follow the misadventures of the creepy green humanoid and his pals.

Firth has since gone on to put his talents to other projects, from web series such as Spoilsbury Toast Boy and Burnt Face Man to flash animations like Musical Predictions 2009 and Jerry Jackson.

Last year, Firth he also announced he'd be taking Salad Fingers on tour - although the pandemic obviously meant things had to postponed until this year.

With just a couple of dates remaining for 2021 and 2022, in the live shows fans will be treated to a screening of all 11 episodes, before Firth hosts a live Q&A afterwards to discuss the titular character's inception and more.
