Netflix has announced that all 12 seasons of Anthony Bourdain's hugely popular travel and food series Parts Unknown will be added to the streaming service in the UK and Ireland next month.

The late Bourdain was celebrated for his dedication to uncovering some of the world's best and most unlikely food hotspots, having travelled everywhere from Myanmar and Morocco to Beirut and Bhutan in his search of interesting flavours - and even more interesting characters.

Throughout the course of 12 series, Bourdain embraced all aspects of high and low food culture, visiting the street food markets of bustling capital cities, meeting local fisherman of the Mediterranean and interviewing famous fellow chefs about their country's cuisine.

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown originally aired on CNN between 2013 and 2018, but the show came to an end when Bourdain sadly took his own life, having been filming in Strasbourg, France, with friend Eric Ripert.

In a statement, the network said at the time: "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.

"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

CNN released the 12th and final instalment of the programme in the autumn of 2018, concluding with a series finale titled 'Lower East Side' that saw Bourdain return to his hometown of New York.

Now the entire travelogue will be available for fans to revisit, with all 12 seasons landing on Netflix 1 June.

As well as providing a firm guide to some of the world's most exciting places, many episodes also offer an intriguing snapshot into the late chef's personal life.

At one point Bourdain travels to his childhood home state of New Jersey with brother Chris, remembering an old roadside joint known for its fried hot dogs, while another episode takes viewers to Provincetown on Cape Cod, where Bourdain first learnt the ropes as a chef when he was a young adult.

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown will be available to stream on Netflix (UK and Ireland) from 1 June.

In America, viewers can also catch the series on HBO Max from 27 May.
