It's been more than 16 years since we said goodbye to the Hannah Montana show on Disney.

The star of the show, Miley Cyrus, ended up becoming one of the biggest pop stars on the planet thanks to a series of hits including 'Party in the USA' and 'Wrecking Ball'.

But what if we told you there could be more to come from the world of Hannah Montana?

Well, if Miley's dad Billy Ray Cyrus is to be believed then Disney might be putting together a new show based in the Hannah Montana universe.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, Billy Ray said: "They're talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat. Because that means I get to get my mullet back."

The 58-year-old - who scored a mega-hit himself in 1992 with 'Achy Breaky Heart' before duetting with Lil Nas X on 2019's 'Old Town Road (Remix)' - said that despite filming four seasons and two movies for the TV show, there's still more to be told about the famous Montana family.

Billy Ray added: "I think there's a whole story that led up to Miley becoming Hannah Montana."

He also revealed that he wasn't actually too keen on being Miley's on-screen dad when the project was first pitched to him.

He told Hollywood Life: "They had cast me as her dad, and I said, 'They should get a real actor. I don't want to mess that show up. They should get a real actor to play her dad, because this is a great script and a great concept.'"

But if the new project does see the light of day, don't expect Miley to be the star again.

Miley made similar suggestions three years ago to People, adding: "[I] probably [wouldn't do a Hannah Montana reboot]. It's a lot of time to be spent with my dad. You know, my dad was my dad on the show. I have enough dad time.

"That was really hard every day from, like, [ages] 11 to 18. I didn't get a school escape like most people. I went to work with my dad. And then I started driving my dad toward the end, when I could start driving.

"And then my grandma went with me every day. It was a lot of time with dad and grandma."
