If you've ever wanted to be a part of a massive TV show, then your chance might be just around the corner.

The company looking for extras in the upcoming and highly anticipated Lord of the Rings TV series has put out a casting call for 'funky' and 'unusual' looking people.

BGT Actors Models & Talent has issued a message for New Zealanders who might have some interesting facial or body features and wouldn't mind being on camera for a few shots.

The casting call is asking for anyone with 'an overbite, face burns, long skinny limbs, deep cheekbones, lines on your face, acne scars, ears that stick out, bulbous or interesting noses, small eyes, big eyes, skinny faces, missing bones'.

You don't necessarily need to have those specific attributes but it gives you an idea of the sort of things they're looking for.

If you want to apply, you have to send a clear photo of yourself without makeup on with your phone number. You'll also have to have great availability, live in Auckland or be a resident and have the rights to work in New Zealand. You can email them here.

Considering travel to New Zealand is pretty tricky at the moment due to the coronavirus, it's unlikely this casting call will be granted to people outside the country. That's a damn shame for all those 'funky' and 'unusual' looking people in Australia.

This isn't the first time a casting call has gone out for the Lord of the Rings TV series.

Two casting agents, based in Auckland, New Zealand, were looking for willing participants to play the grotesque monsters in the Amazon show, which was due to start filming this year.

In their own words, one of the companies is after people who are either under five feet tall, or over six feet tall. They also must possess what they've tactfully called 'wonderful noses' or 'character faces'.

The other has more specifically appealed for actors with wrinkly faces and 'hairy people of all ages and ethnicities'. The agency added: "HAIR HAIR HAIR - if you have natural red hair, white hair, or lots and lots of freckles."

The advert also put out a call for 'long lithe dancers', 'stocky mean-looking bikers', and 'redheads of all ages, shapes and sizes'.
