Marvel dropped the trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings yesterday, and eagle-eyed fans reckon they've spotted something Captain America-related in the background. Look closely - can you spot the super soldier's shield in the background?
Stans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) pointed out the possible Easter egg on Twitter, leading to a suggestion that there could be a crossover between the franchises - after all, Marvel's been known to draft a character or two into another superhero's movie.

You need to look closely but it looks as if Cap's shield - as seen most recently sported by John Walker in the Disney+ show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier - is lurking in the background.
Taking to social media, ComicBook.com Adam Barnhardt asked: "Is... is that John Walker's shield?"
Can you see it? OK, let's take another look with the image brightened up a bit:
Got it now?

The tweet has racked up over 2,500 likes with more than 400 retweets. Despite many being in disagreement, one person wrote: "Maybe, it def looks like it. Maybe they stole it? I'm not a Marvel expert so correct me if I'm wrong."
Another added: "Hmmm it sure looks like it," while a third wrote: "OH MY FREAKING GOD."
Batting the theory away, another viewer quipped: "That is just a piece of cardboard with a star painted on it... wait, yup that is John Walker's shield."
Another said: "I think it's a painting on the wall, no way the shield would just be sitting there."

Many more pointed out that they weren't looking anywhere but at Simu Liu, who plays the titular character Shang-Chi.
The trailer has offered fans their first look at the main protagonist in Marvel's first movie that centres on an Asian superhero, which will see Shang-Chi confront his past and battle with the villainous Ten Rings organisation.
He may not be a household name yet - like his fellow heroes Iron Man or Captain America - but the idea of making a Shang-Chi movie is older than the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself.

Created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin, the kung-fu master made his comics debut in 1973 as a way for Marvel to capitalise on martial arts stories' popularity with American audiences.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released on 3 September 2021.
