It's a tradition that means the lucky person catching the bouquet at a wedding will be next to marry - which makes sense why so many unwilling boyfriend's try and do a runner.

The hilarious video was taken of Nathan Jordan running for the hills when his girlfriend, Haley Marie Skipworth, 20, caught the floral display which spooked her fella into getting his car and making a run for it.

The video was filmed at a wedding in Millbrook, Alabama on 14 September and has been viewed 11 million times on Facebook. It shows Haley eagerly snatching the bouquet, and naturally everyone turns to look at her partner.

Moments later the attention turns to Nathan who is running for his car - jumping over a fence as he goes. Nathan unlocks his vehicle in record time, piles in and drives away.

Haley said: "My boyfriend and I attended our best friend's wedding. When it came time for the bouquet toss, I was front and center ready to catch the bouquet.

"When my boyfriend, Nathan, saw that I did in fact catch it, he decided to make a run for it, jumping over every obstacle in his way and leaving nothing but dust as he sped down the road.

"Some say he ran out of there as fast as he could because he wasn't ready to tie the knot. Others say he ran to buy a ring.

"In reality, he did return right away. We have been dating for five years and plan to get married after college."

Posting the footage on Facebook on 14 September, Haley captioned the video: "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.... swipe to see why." Yep, we can definitely see why.

The post has received 1,500 reactions and 53,000 shares. One person commented: "That was the funniest thing I ever saw!"

Another guest wrote: "I just wish the video was extended to see him peel out leaving nothing but dust in the wind! Such a funny moment!"

A third said: "This is the greatest thing ever," with another adding: "We all know he will be back in a flash."

It seems this is somewhat a regular occurrence because this isn't the first time a guy has run from a wedding following this tradition.

One bloke was filmed running for his life in Nottingham after realising he might be next to get hitched.

After newly-weds Chelsea and Matt Best tied the knot, the bride flung her flowers into the crowd towards a group of women who all had their eyes on the prize.

The women can be seen barging each other out of the way to try and get hold of the bouquet before it's caught by Rachel Besley, who is wearing an orange gown.

Clearly overjoyed, Rachel jumps for joy until her boyfriend, Daniel Gilbert, decides to run for the hills.

According to the MailOnline, social media users commented on the viral video saying their partners would react very much the same.
