A bloke who has been dubbed the ‘living Nostradamus’ has shared a bleak prediction regarding the Doomsday Clock.

The chilling timepiece is due to be reset later today (23 January) to reassess how close we are to 'destroying our world with dangerous technologies of our own making' as 2024 gets underway.

The closer the clock is set to midnight, the closer the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists think we are to Armageddon.

It is intended to serve as a call to action for world governments, encouraging leaders to take action when we teeter dangerously close to a global catastrophe as a result of manmade technologies.

The clock is currently the closest it's ever been to midnight - AKA Doomsday - at just 90 seconds away from disaster.

Prior to January 2023, it sat at the previous record of 100 seconds to midnight for two years.

But the hands moved a lot closer after Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine and threatened to unleash a barrage of nuclear weapons.

The clock signifies how close humanity is to self-inflicted Armageddon.

Speaking last year, The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists President Rachel Bronson said: "The time on the Doomsday Clock represents the judgement of leading science and security experts about the threat to human existence, with a focus on man-made threats."

Now, the ‘living Nostradamus’ has shared his thoughts ahead of this year's reset and said he believes that current affairs will dramatically impact where the Doomsday Clock is set.

Self-proclaimed psychic Athos Salomé, from Brazil, claims he can have a look into the future and supposedly successfully predicted the Covid-19 pandemic, the death of the Queen, the World Cup final result and Elon Musk taking over Twitter.

He warned that the growing tensions in certain parts of the world today leave the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists with no choice but to set the clock scarily close to midnight.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Salomé explained that 'the Israel-Hamas conflict, Russia's aggression in Ukraine, the growing alliance between North Korea and Russia along with North Korea's nuclear tests' will be taken into account.

He described them as 'interconnected pieces in a larger puzzle that might foretell a bleaker future'.

The so-called mystic said: "It's important to remember that at its core the Doomsday Clock serves as an instrument of awareness. It doesn't predict our future [but] acts as a cautionary signal highlighting the perils that surround us.

"Each tick of the clock represents not behaviour but also the vast and enigmatic universe that surrounds us. We are all intertwined in this voyage through time and every decision we make, every action we take reverberates within the tapestry of humanity's fate."

Salomé says he reckons that the Doomsday Clock will be set 'between 80 to 85 seconds before midnight', but told people not to 'regard this as a statement'.
