Celebrations explain why beloved chocolate won't be making a comeback

Celebrations has revealed which one chocolate isn't expected to return to the box anytime soon.

Celebrations has revealed which one chocolate isn't expected to return to the box anytime soon.

Prepare to feel the pain:

Celebrations - a staple to every merry Christmas. The perfect present to take to a dinner party for the host or you can just buy yourself a tub and tuck yourself away watching festive films, making your way through the box on a snowy afternoon.

Not only is one beloved chocolate not set to return to the tub of deliciousness, but the box of festive treats were almost given a completely different name entirely.

Mars Wrigley General Manager Michelle Frost has opened up to LADbible about all things Celebrations.

Michelle first started working at Mars Wrigley in 1988. In 1994, she was challenged to come up with a new product as part of the Seasons and Gifting team to 'revolutionise Christmas chocolate forever'.

Michelle told LADbible: "A lot of what was already on offer felt so traditional, so we wanted to overhaul this and really make something different.

"Once we decided to go for it with making miniature versions of our well-known chocolates - something special tapping into the famous chocolates everyone loves - I had another task ahead of me… What are we going to call this thing!"

And just wait until you hear what Celebrations was nearly called.

Michelle explains out of the brainstorm of names, two 'stuck out'.

"One was Celebrations but the other was Jamboree. It’s an equally lovely name I think, but it feels strange to imagine a world with a tub of ‘Jamboree’ now!

"I think Celebrations just summed up the occasion we wanted people to use this product for. Be it a gift, at the centre of a dinner table, or passed around during the holidays, those little treats within that big red tub have been part of many celebrations, smiles, and happy moments over the years so it feels right that we went with the name," she continues.

But will we all be celebrating when we hear that one particular fan-favourite chocolate is unlikely to ever make a return?

In 2011, Mars decided to get rid of the Galaxy Truffle from its tubs and fans were left outraged. There've even been petitions to try and get it back.

Alas, prepare for your dreams to be crushed, as Michelle said: "We replaced Galaxy Truffles with Twix in 2011 and it’s been a hit. Who doesn’t love a caramel, chocolate and biscuit treat?

"We don’t have current plans to bring back Galaxy Truffles to the Celebrations mix."

However, don't be too quick to shed a tear, as you can get your hands on a whole box full of just Galaxy Truffles, in multiple 'new flavours including Caramel, Orange, and Salted Caramel'.

Now, the question we've all been waiting for. While I was fairly surprised to hear Michelle admit she is 'a bit partial to the toffees in Quality Street' there was one burning question at the forefront of my mind. Does the general manager of Mars Wrigley like Bounty's?

Bounty haters begone, because Michelle does indeed like the controversial chocolate.

She said: "I knew this question was coming! I, for one, am a proud Bounty lover and always have been. Whether you’re a loyal (or secret) fan of Bounty I know there are plenty of us out there who will always pick the coconut treat first. In my family, my daughter and I are always happy to scoop up any last Bounty’s.

"Who would have thought that chocolate and coconut would divide the nation and become our very own Marmite? While the combination of chocolate and coconut might not be for all, research has revealed that one in five (20 percent) of those who have said they dislike Bounty hadn’t tried it in over five years! We know that taste buds mature so perhaps we should all give Bounty another chance."

So, in the spirit of Christmas and as said by the woman behind Celebrations herself, pick up a box, unwrap a Bounty and perhaps this year, the chocolate won't end in a discarded heap at the bottom of the box, because as Michelle says, 'Celebrations was created with the objective that no chocolates would ever be left in the box, because there would always be something for everyone'.
