Woman calls out boyfriend's 'underwear habit' that many lads are guilty of

Some people reckon the 'strange' routine is pretty normal

A woman has called out her boyfriend’s ‘bizarre underwear habit’, but many lads are guilty of it.

And before we get into it, it’s not ‘all men’ OK? But there’s no denying plenty of you boxer-wearing lot are doing this very same thing – if not at an even more extreme level.

Taking to the perfect place to rant – Mumsnet’s Am I Being Unreasonable forum, obviously – she explained how she had recently taken a next step in her relationship and moved in with her partner and discovered his odd ‘underwear routine’.

She described his ‘strange’ behaviour regarding just how often he changes into a new pair of pants. Wondering if other people had noticed their partner doing the same thing, or if they were guilty of it themselves, she wasn’t sure if she was being unreasonable by being so shocked by it.

The woman explained: “I have since discovered that he only changes his underwear after he showers in the evening and doesn’t replace them with a new pair each morning after sleeping in them.

“I think this is very strange and that each time you get dressed for the day you should change your underwear."

Users responded to say there’s a ‘lot of red flags’ as they wrote: “Time to have a good hard think about your relationship. You deserve so much better than this weird behaviour."

And another added: “The issue here imo isn't sleeping in underwear; it's wearing the same pair for 24 hours. That's what I'd find off-putting. I don't wear day clothes to bed, and equally I don't wear the same underwear in bed that I've been wearing all day; I change into a fresh pair."

But others defended the habit and said it’s similar to most men’s routine as they pointed out that the man is both showering and changing his boxers each day.

The woman later thanked others for their opinions as she felt reassured by their responses.

“Thanks all, was more just to get a feel as to whether this was a bit grotty or whether I’m being overly weirded out by it!" she wrote.

"Not a deal-breaker either way he’s a good egg. Plus, as some of you have said, he is washing and changing every day and based off other threads I’ve seen here I should count my blessings for that!"

And she’s right, some people (and this could include you) will re-wear their underwear for multiple days before washing them.

Dr Chun Tang, a GP and medical director at Pall Mall Medical in the North West, previously told Daily Mail: "While wearing underwear for multiple days isn’t ideal, breathable cotton boxers can be worn for two days if proper hygiene practices are maintained.”
