​Tom Cruise Shares Slow-Mo Footage Of Breaking His Ankle In 'Mission Impossible 6'

Tom Cruise broke his ankle after a Mission: Impossible 6 stunt went very, very wrong - a stunt that went so tits-up, in fact, that his ankle is actually still broken.

And, you'll be delighted to know, the incident was also caught on camera, with Tom sharing the gory footage on Friday night's episode of The Graham Norton Show, which is on BBC 1.

Graham warns: "If you are squeamish, don't watch this."

But of course you watched it, didn't you? You're only human, it's okay.

As the clip is shown in slow-motion, you can see the moment Tom's foot smashes into the wall. Graham then shows the clip back again from different angles, revealing the actor's expression as his foot hits the wall.

"I knew I'd broken it instantly," Tom says - though that clearly didn't stop him from clambering up and hobbling off in agony. LAD.

The clip is taken from behind the scenes of one of Tom's high-octane stunts on set of the latest Mission: Impossible film.

"I was chasing Henry [Cavill] and was meant to hit the side of the wall and pull myself over but the mistake was my foot hitting the wall," Tom told Graham.

"I knew instantly my ankle was broken and I really didn't want to do it again so just got up and carried on with the take. I said, 'It's broken. That's a wrap. Take me to hospital' and then everyone got on the phone and made their vacation arrangements."

And apparently he took such a bad hit that the ankle is still in a bad way, with Tom explaining: "It's still broken but I'm doing well.

"It's not fully healed but we are shooting and we have a release date so I just have to keep going. I spent 8-10 hours a day, seven days a week in rehab because we still have some major stunts to do."

Speaking about the forthcoming movie, Tom said: "There is one big set piece, which has been two years in the planning. We do an aerial helicopter sequence, which in terms of action is the largest we have ever done. We were flying very low near rock faces and I was literally on Henry's tail. It was incredibly exhilarating and dangerous."

Henry, who also appears in the stunt, added: "I thought at one point, 'ah, this is how I go but at least I will have been killed by Tom Cruise and it will definitely make the papers!'"

That's the spirit.
