The ultimate Spider-Man spoiler Tom Holland wishes he could take back

It's the summer of Tom Holland, and it's a wonder he's managed not to drop any spoilers.

The British Hollywood star has already played a major role in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and now he's the main man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which released worldwide on Friday, July 31 and is set to take the box office by storm, too.

It's Holland's sixth performance as the web-slinging superhero and, thankfully, he's managed to go through the build-up of the latest film's release without spoiling major plot points or moments.

It's become an issue for the 30-year-old over the years, as his loose lips and clumsy antics have seen him make multiple spoiler blunders in the past.

But one stands out as the worst.

"There was this huge, collective sigh"

Holland was asked by Complex if there was any spoiler moment he wished he could go back and erase just like Peter Parker erased everyone's memory of him being Spider-Man.

"I remember when Infinity War was coming out, Kevin Feige, the legend, always does this thing where he rents a party bus, and we drive around LA, and we surprise fans at the first opening night screenings,' he said.

"And I thought we were walking into a room that had seen the movie, I thought the movie had ended.

"I walked on stage and I said: 'Don't worry everybody, I'm still alive,'" referencing the iconic moment when Thanos' snap heard around the cosmos caused his character to fade into the wind as he emotionally died in Tony Stark's arms.

He continued: "And there was this huge, collective sigh, and I was like: 'Wow, I thought that would get a bigger reaction.'

"I looked at Kevin and he was like," at this point, Holland made an impression of someone trying to subtlety tell another person to stop talking.

He added: "I wish I could go back and relive that moment."

One Spider-Man spoiler did come out early though

It wasn't by Holland's doing, but a major spoiler for Brand New Day was accidentally leaked just before the film released and it involved Sadie Sink.

The Stranger Things star is a new addition to the Marvel Universe in the fourth instalment of the Spider-Man series, but Marvel had managed to keep the role she would be playing a safely guarded secret.

However, they fell at the final hurdle as musician Steve Lacy revealed she would be playing X-Men stalwart Jean Grey.

Lacy, who made a song for the movie, was asked by streamer Valkyrae, real name Rachell Marie Hofstetter, who his favourite character was.

Despite being asked to 'not spoil' anything, Lacy replied with: “You know what… Jean. I like Jean. She’s the villain, but there’s like a reason to her madness.”

Clearly panicking and laughing nervously, Valkyrae replied: “Is that a spoiler?”

Marvel had gone to great lengths to keep Sink's role a secret, even covering her costume on set with jackets, and Holland himself outright denying Grey featured in the film.

“She's not in this movie but it would be pretty cool," he said, responding to a TikToker.

But after making major spoiler gaffs of his own ahead of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, he may well be delighted he isn't the one causing headaches for producers and marketers this time around.
