A new photo of Donald and Melania Trump has reignited a conspiracy theory that body doubles sometimes stand in for the First Lady, with social media users arguing there's something slightly off about the snap.

The photo dates from 22 October, and shows Melania and her husband boarding Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington - the first time the couple had appeared in public together after both contracting coronavirus.

Melania is stood behind Donald in the doorway of the aircraft, with a large grin on her face, her eyes covered by a large pair of black sunglasses.

As the image started circulating online, many people started to look a little more closely at Melania's face, claiming she's not quite looking herself.

Sharing the picture, one person tweeted: "Today's photo of a fake Melania. They think we won't notice this?"

The tweet has racked up more than 20,000 likes, suggesting others are inclined to agree.

Sharing photos from previous #FakeMelania rumours, another user said: "That definitely isn't Melania and it's not the first time either."

A third person had zoomed in on her teeth, arguing that they look different to how they've appeared before.

They said: "Swipe these two photos back & forth. Notice the two front teeth. Melania's are more squared...THAT AIN'T HER in the other photo. #FakeMelania."

The #FakeMelania theory has been knocking around for several years now, despite the fact President Trump has tried to dismiss it as 'fake news'.

People have noted differences in Melania's teeth, bone structure and even height, having noticed something strange in her public appearances - including her exiting Air Force One in Brussells back in July 2018 and a visit to an Alabama tornado site in 2019.

Responding to the claims last year, Trump tweeted: "The Fake News photoshopped pictures of Melania, then propelled conspiracy theories that it's actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places.

"They are only getting more deranged with time!"
