This is not a drill - Breaking Bad is going to be turned into a film.

Variety confirmed the creator of the series that saw its final days in 2013 is working on a new Breaking Bad movie to tie in with the show.

While creator Vince Gillian confirmed a two-hour film is in the works, there hasn't yet been word on whether it will be for the big screen or TV.

Gilligan is definitely loving teasing the fans though, as film details are pretty sparse. There's not much information on when the film will be set - so whether it will take the story up as a sequel, or simply a Breaking Bad universe spin-off, like Netflix hit Better Call Saul, is still up in the air. However, you'd imagine a lot of people will be hoping Huell - the bodyguard, assistant, and pickpocket for Saul Goodman - makes a return in the movie.

However, rumours of the upcoming production have been floating around for a while. The Alburquerque Journal reported the movie was set to start filming in the city - which has become a huge draw for tourists thanks to the success of the show - in mid-November through to early February 2019.

Will Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul return in Breaking Bad Film?

The Journal reported the film has a working title of 'Greenbriar' and they say it 'tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom'.

That's still speculation though, and stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have given nothing away yet.

It has been reported that Gilligan will be at the helm of the project - writing the script, executive producing and possibly directing.

Better Call Saul executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein have also been linked to the movie - so it's definitely going to stay true to the vibes of the original series and to the Breaking Bad universe.

The cast of the show got people pretty excited earlier this year when they came together for the 10th anniversary reunion of the show.

Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly he'd love to see a reunion of the characters Walter White (Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Paul).

He said: "I desperately want to see both of them on Better Call Saul. Peter [Gould] wants it, the writers do, the actors do."

"It wouldn't feel as satisfying if it was just a cameo or an Alfred Hitchcock walkthrough. I think we've waited long enough. We damn well better have a good reason for them to show up. I just hope we figure it out because I've got to hear, 'Yeah, bitch!' one more time."

Wouldn't we all?
