This Is What Little Lavender From 'Matilda' Looks Like Now

To say that Matilda was released in 1996, and with the majority of the cast consisting of primary school aged kids, it's not that unbelievable that most of them have now grown up.

Unless everyone expected them to get stuck at ten years old forever. And let's admit that would be Mrs D, Mrs I, Mrs FFI, Mrs C, Mrs U, Mrs LTY. We had to throw it in somewhere.

And one of our faves (along with Miss Honey and Matilda Wormwood, obviously) was Little Lavender. Remember she pranked the school's evil principal, Agatha Trunchbull, by putting a newt into her water that one time.

Well she's changed, along with probably every other human being over a 20 year period, but still.

She was Matilda's first friend when they were hiding from Trunchbull as she was handing out detentions left right and centre, the witch.

And with her braided hair, framed glasses and the cutest giggle, some probably hoped she wouldn't grow up. But she's turned 30. How old does that make you feel now then?

We loved her no nonsense approach in the film, like after watching on in amazement as Miss Honey confirmed that Matilda's quickly given answer to 13 x 379 is actually correct, Lavender summed up in one word what everyone is thinking - 'WOW'.

Which is exactly what we think of growing up to be fair.

And we love the fact that she never forgot her roots. She regularly shares pictures of appreciation that people have sent to her of their kids (or themselves) in 'Lavender' fancy dress. Usually as adorbs as she was way back when.

And she's still pretty much a BFF with the main character in the film, Mara Wilson. Who has also grown up since the film was released. Who would've guessed?

Last year she posted a picture to Instagram of the pair posing during filming with the caption: "I've grown up, my circle around me is now smaller than ever & people have revealed their ugly truths in ways I would have never imagined.

"But this right here ... THIS moment will FOREVER REMAIN true & pure. My present & my future (regardless of 20, 50 or 80 years) are NOTHING without this blessing from God. Just a small town girl from humble beginnings, changing the world, one smile at a time."

Oh you guys.

Never mind all this crap about a Girls Aloud reunion, let's get these two back together.
