It looks like Lil Nas X can do no wrong.

Not only has he made it to number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but he's now made history by being the first-ever openly gay man to be nominated for a Country Music Award (CMA) which takes place on November 13. Yee-haw!

He's been nominated for his song 'Old Town Road (Remix)' which features none other than Billy Ray Cyrus.

Originally, 'Old Town Road' didn't meet the criteria to enter the US Billboard country charts as the company explained that the song: "does not embrace enough elements of today's country music."

However, the remix featuring Cyrus apparently does.

The remix has become the longest-running US number one of all time, beating the likes of Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber.

In fact, Lil Nas X is only artist ever to come out while having a number one record. Not bad considering he only started making music in 2018.

Lil Nas X's sexuality has often been discussed, however, he used the last day of Pride Month to come out to his fans officially. It read: "some of y'all already know, some of y'all don't care, some of y'all not gone fwm no more," he wrote. "but before this month ends i want y'all to listen closely to c7osure," along with a rainbow emoj.

The tweet references his song, "C7osure (You Like)," which has the lyrics, "True say/ I want and I need/ To let go, use my time to be free/ It's like it's always what you like/ It's always what you like/ Why it's always what you like/ It's always what you like, uh."

It then continues to talk about his lack of desire to "act" in front of others: "Ain't no more actin', man that forecast say I should just let me grow/ No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go/ Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold/ This is what I gotta do, can't be regrettin' when I'm old."

He also tweeted about the cover artwork which features the colours of the pride flag with the quote: "deadass thought i made it obvious".

He's accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and we hope he can add a Country Music Award to his list.

The winners will be announced on 13th November in Nashville.
