In what is probably the most bizarre headline you will read today, British rapper Slowthai has agreed to stop spitting in fans' mouths because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 26-year-old captured headlines around the world in late 2019 when a fan asked him to spit in her mouth during a concert.

The viral footage shocked people around the world and it soon became his 'thing'.

Understandably things have changed a little since then and we now have a pretty strong policy against people swapping saliva unnecessarily.

Slowthai was asked by YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg or her show Chicken Shop Date whether he was keen to revive this spitting habit when live shows are allowed to return.

He replied: "No, I ain't spitting in no more mouths now."

Slowthai - real name Tyron Frampton - earned his spitting reputation in December two years ago when he was in the US supporting Brockhampton on their North American tour.

In a video widely-shared on Twitter, the Northampton MC was seen jumping offstage after spotting a woman in the front row brandishing a sign that reads (what else?) 'Slowthai I need you to spit in my mouth'.

Clearly amused by the absurdity of the whole situation, Slowthai hopped offstage and said a few words to the young woman, Kirsty, before grabbing the sign and holding it aloft for the whole venue to see.

And then without further ado... he fulfilled her request.

The whole incident was caught on video, and while it's something that has to be seen to be believed, be warned that the footage is not for the squeamish.

Speaking to Metro about the incident, Kirsty said: "It was one of the best moments of my life. Slowthai is a beautiful man, I wish nothing but the best for him in his career."
