Well then, Ant-Man fans - it looks like a third instalment is go. According to The Hollywood Reporter, OG director Peyton Reed has signed up to direct the threequel.

Staying in the Marvel fold, Reed - who helmed 2015's Ant-Man, as well as 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp - will return to bring for a third film.

Paul Rudd is expected to return as Scott Lang, making it the fifth time he will appear as the character.

For the past few months, rumours have been circulating that there would be no further Ant-Man films, with the character relegated to cameos in the MCU and perhaps a Disney+ series (as reported by We Got This Covered).

However, things now seem to be looking up for our pint-sized hero - with the film likely to drop in cinemas around 2022.

When we last saw Scott Lang in Avengers: Endgame, he'd returned from five years in the Quantum Realm to see his young daughter Cassie grown into a teenager. Though The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) all got dusted at the climax of Infinity War, they returned to face Thanos after Hulk reversed The Snap.

The sequel will likely explore the changes in Scott's relationship with his daughter after missing five years of her childhood, as well as his developing partnership with The Wasp.
