'Britain's most haunted doll' - which sounds like a programme I for one would not watch - goes by the name of Mary and resides at the Haunted Museum in Stoke.

The museum was set up by G.H.O.S.T (Ghost Hunters Of Stoke-on-Trent) and contains all sorts of eerie bits and pieces, such as Mary, who has been filmed rocking in a chair in the middle of the night, while seemingly all by herself.

Craig, who founded G.H.O.S.T, said Mary is always up to these kinds of shenanigans.

He told The Mirror: "Mary is definitely the most haunted doll in the United Kingdom, a lady in Stafford gave us this doll who was given to her by an elderly lady for her children.

"She didn't feel comfortable with this doll, so gave it to us. It's been in our possession for about a year now.

"She's rocked on a chair, she's thrown herself out of the chair, she's even moved her eyes from the right to the centre."

Indeed, the previous owner even had problems with her car on the way to drop off Mary, which they believe she was to blame for.

Craig said: "Mary is definitely one of the most haunted artefacts we've had, but we also had a couple who saw a Victorian baby walker move in front of them.

"We had two members of a band come to visit us last week and they said they saw the baby walker do the exact same thing."

In truth though, Mary is just one of many attractions at the museum, where you can even have a sleepover - if you're brave enough.

Craig said: "We also offer haunted sleepovers from 9pm in the evening, we give you a full tour of the museum and artefacts, an investigation of the museum, seances and table tipping spirit board sessions.

"We've had a few sleepovers here, one group almost lasted the whole evening.

"You get to sleep in a body bag if you want to, and there is so much activity - from loud footsteps, moving curtains, and the giggles of a little girl.

"We offer a genuine ultimate experience all under one haunted location where you can investigate yourself."

So if you're ever in need of somewhere to kip in Stoke, then keep this place in mind.

Or just check into a nice body bag-free hotel, your choice.
