Rob McElhenney Who Plays Mac On 'Always Sunny' Reveals How He Got Ripped

Gone are the days of 1,000 calorie meals for the 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' star

I always thought it would be music to my ears if someone said: "Right, you're going to have to lose some weight for this next role." I would literally be forced to shed the pounds. No choice involved - well, if I wanted the part obviously. I would watch it fall off. But it's never going to happen. I'm not an actor, for a start.

Still, Rob McElhenney has put it all into perspective - and the way he tells it, getting super-buff sounds like a pile of absolute shit anyway.

Rob, of course, played Mac on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - a vain, self-absorbed character who put on weight as the series went on, becoming known among audiences as 'Fat Mac'.

But he's definitely turned into 'FAF Mac' in our eyes, and those of pretty much every other normal human being on this small planet we call Earth.

But now he's given us a sneak peak into how he did it, posting these comparison images to Instagram:

He captioned the post: "Look, it's not that hard. All you need to do is lift weights six days a week, stop drinking alcohol, don't eat anything after 7pm, don't eat any carbs or sugar at all, in fact just don't eat anything you like, get the personal trainer from Magic Mike, sleep nine hours a night, run three miles a day, and have a studio pay for the whole thing over a six to seven month span.

"I don't know why everyone's not doing this. It's a super realistic lifestyle and an appropriate body image to compare oneself to."

Now then, let's scrutinise each simple, little point, shall we?

'Lift weight six days a week'? No thanks, mate. The only thing I'm lifting is a cuppa - with two added sugars, FYI.

'Stop drinking alcohol'? Abso-fucking-lutely-never. 'Don't eat anything after 7pm'? Well, considering I've got crisps and chocolate snacks which definitely won't be around by the time you're reading this - I just don't think that's going to work, somehow.

Oh, it get's better - 'sleep nine hours a night'. How does someone even sleep nine hours a night? I'm sure it's very good for you, but seriously. How?!?

Then he jokes that we should 'run three miles a day'. At least we hope it's a joke, because y'know, I'm already lifting weights. Ahem.

He then brings us back down to Earth (thankfully) with the sarcastic parting comment: "I don't know why everyone's not doing this. It's a super realistic lifestyle and an appropriate body image to compare oneself to."

Well done, Rob. Some can, some can't. We belong to the latter.
