The official trailer has finally landed for the highly anticipated fourth season of You, ahead of the release of part one next month.

Watch the trailer below:

Last time we saw Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), he was fleeing the country after murdering his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti), having also burned down their to home to fake his death and given his son up for adoption so that he could run off to France to find Marienne (Tati Gabrielle).

For the fourth instalment, we will see him reinvented as a London professor named Jonathan Moore, who has already found a ‘new crew of posh friends’ - and potential victims, of course.

Joe Goldberg is now a professor in London.

As Netflix fan platform Tudum explains, this includes ‘fiercely loyal art gallery director’ Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), an outspoken literature major called Nadia (Amy Leigh Hickman), ‘irreverent author’ Rhys (Ed Speleers), the wild aristocratic socialite Phoebe (Tilly Keeper) and her boyfriend Adam (Lukas Gage), entrepreneur Sophie (Niccy Lin) and her ‘introverted author brother’ Simon (Aidan Cheng), privileged Oxford grad Gemma (Eve Austin), a potty-mouthed former athlete called Connie (Dario Coates) and Nigerian princess-cum-cryptocurrency aficionado Blessing (Ozioma Whenu).

Series four will land on Netflix in two parts - the first arriving on 9 February, followed by the second on 9 March.

Our serial killer lead will be sporting a fresh new beardy look as he forges a new life across the pond, while the show itself will also be taking on a new direction as an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery.

Tudum explains: "Season 1 was a classic stalker thriller, offering an irreverent take on tried-and-true rom-com tropes; Season 2 had more of a revenge motif and challenged traditional love-interest expectations, and Season 3 threw Joe into a domestic thriller — almost a suburban noir, complete with swinging neighbors. With Season 4, You transforms into a straight-up murder mystery a la Agatha Christie (or maybe Glass Onion).

"In other words, Joe’s life is going to become a lot more complicated, whether he wants it to or not."

The first part of the new season lands next month.

In the cast reveal video that debuted at the Tudum global event last year, Badgley's Joe also said chillingly: “I’m not the lovable bookstore manager in New York, or the shop clerk in LA, or the doting husband in the suburbs now. Not anymore.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself: I’ve gone through a bit of refinement upon crossing the pond. And living in London has allowed me to bury the past, if you will.”

It sounds like Joe’s days of unrequited love are long gone, with Badgley adding: “This time around, I’m focusing on academia and instruction, while keeping my typical extracurricular activities strictly professional.”

Part one of You season four will hit screens on 10 February, while part two will follow a few weeks later on 10 March.
