Kind-Hearted Cabby Drives Dog To The Beach After She Becomes Unable To Walk There

Paul takes Reema and her owner to the beach every week after seeing an appeal for help on social media

A poorly dog who loves to spend time at the seaside but has been too ill to walk there has been able to get back to her favourite place thanks to a kind-hearted taxi driver who has been giving her free lifts.

Golden retriever Reema has a back problem that prevents her from going on long walks, meaning the beach is usually off limits.

But owner Suzanne Clarke, 57, was so desperate to get Reema back on the sand that she posted on social media asking for assistance from anyone who had a car.

Her post was spotted by cabby Paul Brown, 49, who said he 'didn't think twice' about offering up his services to help the pooch.

Since them the trio have been making weekly trips to the beach in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, which is Reema's favourite place to go for a stroll.

Without a car of her own, Suzanne Suzanne said Reema was unable to visit the beach as the mile-long walk was too much for the dog - until Paul made his generous offer.

Support worker Suzanne said: "Reema was very sad that she was no longer able to walk on the beach.

"It's her favourite place to go and is so close to us that it seemed such a shame she was missing out.

"I thought I may as well put the problem on Facebook to see if anyone could help, which is how I met Paul.

"He's a lovely man and very kind to let Reema sit in his car."

Paul added: "When I saw what was being asked I didn't think twice about it, I just got in touch and offered my services.

"Some people are funny about having dogs in their car but that's not me, they're part of the family in my opinion.

"Others say dogs can only go in the boot but I would never do that. I wouldn't put a person in the boot, so why would I put an older dog in there?"

Reema, who is 10, has travelled the world over the years, enjoying trips to Spain, Belgium and Portugal with Suzanne and her husband Andy.

Suzanne said: "Reema has lived a long and exciting life but I think her days of travelling abroad are behind her now.

"She's quite happy to make the short trip to the beach nowadays."

The dog owner added: "I'm really grateful to Paul for taking us there, it has made us both very happy."
