Penn Badgley Responds To Fans Who Fancy His Character In 'You'

It has been dubbed one of the creepiest shows on Netflix, You has got people taking extra care when posting things online.

But it's not just data protection that has got people talking, it's the thriller's star, Penn Badgley.

Despite the fact that he is a total psychopath, fans have been swooning over the troubled character, Joe, even claiming they want to be kidnapped by him. Yep.

I mean you can't argue with it, Badgley is a fairly handsome chap, the kind to make some feel inadequate even, but you would think most people would draw the line at having the hots for a stalker.

Well apparently not and fans have taken to Twitter to voice their love for the troubled - but charming - character.

One person wrote: "@PennBadgley kidnap me pls."

Another fan added: "Okay but @PennBadgley was sexy as Dan but lord Joe is a whole new level."

A third person then said: "Said this already but @PennBadgley is breaking my heart once again as Joe. What is it about him? "

Troubled by the response, Badgley decided he'd better respond to some of his fans to inform them that, ya know, Joe's actually a bit of a nutter and they probably shouldn't fancy him.

Replying to one tweet, the actor simply said: "He is a murderer."

Embarrassed after being called out, a red-faced twitter user then clarified what she meant, writing: "Oh LORD this was only about how much I love @PennBadgley and his acting. NOT the character."

That's a relief.

If you've not seen it yet, the show is about Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) who meets aspiring writer Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail) - for Joe, it's 'love at first sight' and he quickly becomes obsessed with Beck, stalking her online and in real-life.

He then goes to some pretty extreme measures to make sure that he gets into her life.

The show is based on the book of the same name by Caroline Kepnes and has a sequel called Hidden Bodies.

The first season ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, leaving viewers with a lot of unanswered questions, and wanting more.

One fan said: "If you haven't watched this on Netflix yet, you're missing tf out because this is a legitimate 10/10"

Another said: "Catch me NEVER being in a relationship after watching "you" on Netflix."

While a third wrote: "Just finished the netflix show 'you' and ???? what the fuck was that????"

Well, last week they got just what they wanted when it was announced that the nail-biting drama would be returning for a second series.
