The sequel of the teenage rom-com The Kissing Booth has only just aired on Netflix and it seems there's another on the way.

The official Instagram account for the sequel posted a video announcing a third film is set to drop in next year.

The Kissing Booth 2 has quickly become one of Netflix's biggest films after it debuted last Friday. It featured on the service's Top 10 list and it seems like everyone was soaking up the reboot to the 2018 film.

The sequel focused on Elle Evans (played by Joey King), who had come back from 'the most romantic summer of her life' with bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi).

But their romantic bliss is rather short lived. Noah is heads to Harvard and Elle has to go back to high school, where she's about to start her senior year.

As well as trying to get into her dream college, she also has to juggle a long-distance relationship. Added to that, she runs into a few complications when she starts up a close friendship with a 'handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco' (played by Taylor Zakhar Perez).

The synopsis adds: "When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl Chloe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs."

The movie ended on a pretty decent cliffhanger, so it only makes sense for a third film to be made.

When the video confirming a third movie was coming, a live stream was also posted on YouTube, revealing the follow-up was filmed at the same time as the second one.

That means they won't have to worry about coronavirus restrictions or anything like that getting in the way of filming scenes and it shouldn't take too long to get it edited down for the masses.

Joey King revealed she was dead keen for a third film after having so much fun making the second.

Speaking to the Today Show, the actor said: "Well, me and the cast have been talking and we want that so bad and we're kind of relying on the fans to help us out. They loved the first one so much and they're the reason that we got a sequel.

"So if they love this one and they make it known to the world and to Netflix, our fingers are crossed that Netflix will give us a third movie because that's what we want really badly."

Looks like good things come to those who wait.
